While our predecessor company dates back much further, this year does mark the 35th anniversary of the formation of New Holland HFT Japan as a joint venture, bringing in Ford Motor Company as an equity partner. With this, we brought together one of our customers that bought a tractor from us 35 years ago and the HFT salesman that sold him the unit. HFT’s Mr. Otobe, who is currently in charge of parts sales at one of our field stores, visited Mr. Toshiaki Koda, who grows sugar beets, beans, wheat, carrots, and other produce in Hokkaido. Back when Mr. Koda bought the tractor 35 years ago, Japan’s agriculture was still undergoing a transition with the replacement of horses by tractors. Recalling the past, including the tractor purchase, Messrs. Koda and Otobe enjoyed a very lively conversation.
